Jungian Therapy

Carl Jung was a psychiatrist and contemporary of Sigmund Freud, with whom he shared many beliefs. However, their paths diverged when Jung began to see that our unconscious minds held very clinically valuable, repressed psychic material. He found that trauma and painful experiences his patients wished not to acknowledge would be buried in the unconscious mind. In working with patients, he found that this material was often key to psychological healing.

In our work together, we will employ Jungian techniques to help you understand your unconscious drives and emotions. We will explore dreams and unpack symbolism in your life to unravel the messages your buried feelings and drives are trying to communicate to you. This can bring deep and profound psychological healing. I may ask you to keep a dream journal or if you would prefer to be more creative, you may design artwork or written stories or poems we can explore together. We may also examine film, music, or artwork that you find particularly moving.
