Integrative Psychotherapy
In working with adults, Dr. Embrey utilizes multiple therapeutic approaches that are customized to the needs of each client. She takes a trauma-informed approach with the goal of integrating fractured parts of the psyche that may have been lost, suppressed, or otherwise compensated for, but are contributing to psychological instability in the present. She does this by utilizing a combination of therapeutic techniques, including mindfulness based cognitive behavioral therapy (MB-CBT), somatic trauma work, internal family systems (IFS) therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).
Dr. Embrey’s therapy work with children and adolescents involves increasing communication between children and parents and conflict resolution. Children may need additional individual therapy, or parents may need support with techniques for behavioral management, which Dr. Embrey can provide.
