Yoga
The word yoga is derived from the Sanskrit root “yuj” which means “to yoke” or “to unite.” This union in yoga refers to the connection of mind to body. It also refers to connecting breath to movement. And individual consciousness with universal consciousness.
Yoga has demonstrated significant capacity to tone the parasympathetic nervous system, which helps us to feel calmer and more relaxed. This can be especially important for those dealing with somatic manifestations of traumatic experiences. For this reason, yoga is also a wonderful mind-body treatment for those who are unable to tolerate sitting still for meditation.
As a 200 hour certified yoga teacher, I can guide you in developing your own home yoga practice that can address symptoms of anxiety, depression, burnout, fatigue, and grief.
